Find the best financial services for you at: SMARTFINANCESOLUTIONS.NET - Can bacterial meningitis recur after the initial infection? - Following a minor outpatient procedure on my back I began running a temp.a few days later and then began vomiting and and developed a horrible headache. After nearly three weeks of antibiotics I was finally diagnosed with meningitis. I was released home on oral antibiotics. A week later my temp was up to 104. My doctor said it was probably just bad luck and I probably picked up a bug while in the hospital. He suggested fluids and tylenol. Two days later I collapsed in the bathroom. This time the doctor was down right snotty and told me to go to my primary physician. I was admitted to another hospital under the care of their infectious care doctor. He could not believe how I had been treated. He also told me that certain types of meningitis are considered a smoldering infection and even a minor illness can set off the symptoms. I have now had 6 hospitalizations. I am not asking these questions because I intend to sue the doctor. He has since retired and left town -
