Surprise Me!

Theresa Ann Moore - Once Upon a Time

2014-06-14 3 Dailymotion

Running in the sun with a terrier named Queenie
Gathering morels under a blossoming apple tree
Standing still as a stick hearing the hum of a bee
Many years ago, these were childhood images of me

Wadding in a rippling flow below the culvert-bridge
Scooping polliwogs, squatting low at stream’s edge
Freckle tiger lilies watching near the cresting ridge
A dragonfly glistened as it hovered, granting knowledge

Apple trees no longer blossom with the hum of the bee
Fruit trees are bulldozed down as young rabbits flee
Leveling an orchard to build upon… land naked of trees
A habitat for new dwellers in prefab houses with TVs

The Disney Channel is where young children now explore
Mesmerized with fingers clicking on a computer keyboard
Contained in a sterile domain, bolted behind a solid door
I see the changes as time advances; I am a child no more
