I think of you as two
Two possibilities, if you will
Or roads,
Not diverging in a yellow wood
But down my spine-
filling it both hot and cold with your
hope-doubt poison that
I wantonly, unapologetically
sip.
I think of you as two
You are Johannes, my dark seducer
who ravenously kisses
the apple of my neck
as if to devour me
whole
and I ache for it, long for it
but!
I think of you as two, darling
You are my husband, perhaps
and I’m wrapped up in you and
a book, in our library
boasting it’s the place of
the cure of the soul
and I feel enveloped and whole
yet,
I think of you as two
