Jen Sheridan - Angels Are A Rarity

Ignorance teaches, the absence of angels, in our dimension,
Not easily recognized, they shun focus, praise and attention,
The human condition prevents seeing of the true implication,
Blindly we exist; perhaps explaining the need for salvation,
So self immersed, no time to absorb the fundamentals at hand,
We follow our minds, leading a selfish life of treachery and demand,
No time, to seek angels, as we continue to gratify desire,
No apperception, of our oversight, or the gratitude they require,
Today I met an angel, she was not, as you would envisage,
Her eyes were brown; her scent slight, her skin was creased with age,
She smiled, slowly, reaching out to touch my lifeless hand,
Then, gently brushing my hair aside, she continued to stand,
Standing by me, she spoke of life, love and things yet to arrive,
She said, I should be happy, to have managed to stay alive,
Tending me, through the night, she was never too far away,
As morning dawned, she said goodbye wishing me a pleasant day,
She dressed in white, as you would think, but it was just a uniform,
Then taking up her umbrella, she headed out, into the cold, cold storm,
The hospital, let me go home, but she was no longer in my sight,
I wonder where she? That lovely angel, in uniform white.
Angels do exist and they are all around us if we care to look
