Lourdes Pena Goco - To a Friend, in Mourning

2014-10-29 6 Dailymotion

I saw the outline of your face,
A white blur, midst the
slanting shades,
of twilight flitting into the night,
So lonesome, dark & still.....

Was it a stifled sigh, I heard?
An echo of the emptiness,
Reflected in the far-flung look
Of eyes, now wet with painful
tears,
That cruel grief will not let fall.

I wish I could retrace the light
On your dear face, now grim
with loss,
And coax your drooping lips
to smile
At warm and loving memories
That once were part of you.

For really grief is sacrilege -
How can you mourn the loss
of love?
They say that love, so easily
Transcends all space and time
And distance. Although infinite
ceases to be, when love is real.
