A new year dawned for me
As a single tiny shaft of green
Decked with a diamond drop
Sparkling in the morning sun
Bowed to the hopping of
Watchful Mummy blackbird
Seeking fresh worms for her young
And a new year dawned for me
As Dartmoor slowly faded
From the black of night
To early mornings grey
And Rough Tor rose up
From the mist
To welcome in the day.
