I thought of U today.
I thought of you today...
as the morning frost lie on the lawn
like a blanket of white bristles
on a palette of muted brown blades
I thought of you today...
as the day wore on like a shoe
so tight and uncomfortable
on a foot longing to be bare and free.
I thought of you today...
as daylight dulled and the moon
stepped fourth from the shadows
prying through the dark with a hint of light.
I thought of you tonight...
as plush pillows caressed my neck
floating the pain and regrets of the day
into the cloudy dark windless sky.
My thoughts stayed with you tonight...
as your warm hand held mine,
as our bodies mingled in my mind til night
turned to day....and you faded away.
