Now lingers Evening; iridescent light
Fading, folds in closing shades of Night.
Minute fireflies flash in reverie
Ah, the tiny sparks of mystery!
Overhead, in heaven's depth a falling star.
Old moon paints rainbows on wisps of clouds afar.
Night, who charms all happy lovers near,
Take our hearts as willing captives to your sphere-
Lovely starry Night, - fleeing fast
Send ocean's breeze to light our dreams at last!
Night that we loved in ecstasy
More by far than we have ever loved fair Day.
Night of love-oh, envy not our kisses!
Night of dreams-oh, envy not our blisses!
