Gillena Cox - Banished

From the earth was fashioned,
From the likeness of God, the man;

And the breath of life,
Breathed into him.

From Adam's rib,
Was fashioned,
A helpmate called the woman;

And the breath of life,
Breathed into her.

The garden, their paradise given
There to live in,
To have of fruit with exception.

But the two they fell,
Into a trap laid well,
By the wiley wiley deceiver;
Clever clever he;

Approached the woman,
Knowing she, was held high
In esteem by her man;

With skillful debate
Was she baited, she ate;
Then she to the man to sate

Tasted of the fruit forbidden,
From their eyes, veiled
Innocence slipped;

Exposing to them at the hip,
Their loins in full nakedness,
Which they taught to cover
With leaves.

From the Lord God ever,
There is no hiding;
He knew of their deeds.

His compassion meted them,
Garments made of skins;
His wrath, banishment
With statuses new defined;

So then the woman,
By Adam, was named Eve;
Fitting her function given
By The Lord God; child bearer.

Banished then, and sent,
Out from their garden home;
They went;
Wanderers for a new home.

Then Adam slept with his wife
Eve; child bearer.
