We made love in the afternoon
The warm sun radiating through curtains
Gently drawn
Bodies naturally warm and glowing
Snuggling into crisp sheets
We made love in the afternoon
Then toast and jam, toast and crumbs in the bed
I read you Shelley, you quoted Keats
We talked and laughed gently in our touching
Feeling decadent and so special
So inspired with our thoughts and dreams
But then as dusk crept in and the world
Came home from its labours
I realised that our moments only felt so alive
When compared to the tide of dulled conformity
Where every minute is filled with the pap of life
And quiet is shunned and expression feared
So sad - to feel such a rebel just by living in the now
Hmmm.... But so great
To make love in the afternoon
