Qe nga mbrëmja e 24 korrikut, kur i dorëzoi mandatin pasardhësit Bujar Nishani, jeta e tij ka ndryshuar. Para derës se banesës nuk e pret më eskorta presidenciale. Pas këtyre bisedave, ka pohuar ish-kreu i shtetit, do te pasoje vendimi mbi te ardhmen e tij, qe nuk duket se do te jete larg politikes. Madje, bazuar ne deklarimet e mëparshme publike te zotit Topi, është lëne te kuptohet se e ardhmja i përket një angazhimi te qarte politik. Shume njohës e komentues te zhvillimeve ne vend, por edhe bashkëpunëtore te ish-presidentit e lidhin përfshirjen e tanishme te Topit, me partine , "Fryma e re demokratike". Ky formacion politik drejtohet aktualisht nga një grup nismëtar, ndërsa posti i kryetarit është ende vakant.
