Qatar' third "drifting" competition is currently taking place in Doha, where motor sports are very popular but also practiced illegally in city streets. The Qatar Racing Club, the event's main organiser, hopes to reduce mortality rates on roads by developing drifting, which involves drivers forcing their cars to slide sideways during turns and makes for spectacular races, on closed circuits.
