Hi, I'm Stephen Schultz founding partner
of Schultz & Myers law firm. Today I'm gonna talk about car insurance
claims.
and a question we often get is "Will my
rates go up if I make a claim on my own policy for crash that wasn't my fault?" They
could be anything from hit and runs or an incident where you have your
car parked at Walmart and somebody backs into it. maybe they leave and you don't get their information. So let's address that.

Insurance companies
are not allowed to raise your rates, or increase your premiums if you make a claim on your policy that's not your fault. So the examples are hit and run things like that. So
if you make those claims against your insurance policy, don't be frightened that next month the rate
you're gonna go through the roof. That's not the case.

now what can happen is in certain hit-and-run situations, your insurance company may say look major deductible
need to pay deductible to repair your car however, we're gonna go see if we can find out who hit you, and if they don't find that out sometimes they'll reimburse the deductible to you ,sometimes they won't but, remember

your rates will NOT increase because of that crash because it wasn't your fault.
