Downing Street has slapped down Nigel Farage after his visit to see Donald Trump, by declaring there will be no “third person” in the Prime Minister’s relationship with the President-elect.
“We have established routes of engagement with the president-elect and his team.
Our diplomatic staff have been building those contacts and links in the run-up to the election,” Theresa May said in response to questions about Farage’s hour-long meeting with Trump in New York.
The Downing Street spokeswoman said: “I don't remember there being any third person in that relationship.”
