The Chairman of the U.S. House Armed Services Committee, Mac Thornberry, says he is "very skeptical" that North Korea will follow through and denuclearize.
Speaking to Fox News on Sunday, local time, the Republican from Texas said the North has a history of manipulating world opinion.
And with the international sanctions against the regime, Chinese pressure, and President Trump's unconventional rhetoric,... it may be attempting a PR offensive -- particularly to divide the U.S. from its allies in South Korea.
Thornberry added that the U.S. needs to prepare for the worst... by strengthening its defense posture, including modernizing nuclear deterrent and enhancing its military capabilities in the region.
