A 13-year-old domestic help was attacked and grievously injured by a techie couple on Friday, police said.
Neekunj Todi and his wife Nafiza Usmani took the girl to Blossoms Hospital in Bommanahalli on Hosur Road, claiming that she had collapsed unconscious after an epileptic fit.
When doctors confronted them about her injury marks, they slipped away.
The Madiwala police swung into action after the hospital called them, and took the couple into custody.
“She had stolen money to buy biscuits,” the police quoted Todi as saying. “And she used to eat food cooked for us when we were not looking,” Todi had said.
Police said the couple also told them they beat her because she would not follow their instructions properly.
According to the police, the couple told them that the girl occasionally suffered epileptic fits and that they had taken her to Nimhans for treatment.
