The singer, songwriter and musician told the crowd at an event in Hyde Park, London, that he had a donor lined up.
According to Reuters, Wonder said he was sharing the news to avoid rumors spreading about his health.
The 69-year-old didn't reveal the reasons behind his need for the kidney transplant.
