Apple Issues Apology
for Siri Recordings.
The tech giant faced backlash after
it was revealed the company contracted
workers to listen to recordings of customers
speaking to its digital assistant Siri.
As the recordings could be
triggered falsely, they would
often contain private information.
We realize we haven’t been fully living up to our high ideals, and for that we apologize, Apple Statement.
Amazon, Google, Facebook
and Microsoft have also all been
caught conducting similar practices.
Apple announced that it will no
longer keep recordings of customer
interacting with Siri, relying solely
on computer-generated transcripts.
The company will also provide
users the ability to opt in to whether
or not they wish to provide Apple
audio samples of Siri requests.
Apple says that such
samples will only be listened
to by Apple employees, rather
than contracted employees
