Jitiya or Jeevitaputrika fast is more prevalent among women of Bihar in North India. And the women here observe this fast especially for their sons. But with the changing age and thinking, now this fast is also observed for the wishes and long life of daughters.
जितिया या जीवित्पुत्रिका व्रत उत्तर भारत में बिहार की महिलाओं में ज्यादा प्रचलित है। और यहां की महिलाएं विशेषतौर पर अपने पुत्रों के लिए ये व्रत करती हैं। लेकिन बदलते जमाने और सोच के साथ अब बेटियों की मंगलकामना और लंबी आयु के लिए भी ये व्रत किया जाता है।
