Pomp and pageantry mark opening of Paris Games
Lady Gaga opens the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris on July 26 with a flashy number. Not even the heavy rains could dampen the event that was highlighted by a boat parade of the about 200 participating countries on the River Sein, the lighting of the Olympic cauldron and a surprise number by Celine Dion to end the party that lasted well into the wee hours of the next morning.
