Localised development work near the site of the Putra Heights pipeline fire was not the cause of the incident, the Dewan Rakyat was told.
Deputy Human Resources Minister Datuk Seri Abdul Rahman Mohamad said on Monday (July 28) that the explosion was triggered by underground soil movement, which led to a collapse and friction that ultimately caused the blast.
He assured that all Petronas-owned pipelines adhere to internationally recognised safety standards, and noted that investigations by the Occupational Safety and Health Department found all gas pipelines nationwide to be in safe condition.
