Patients in pain, empty work stations, as Nigeria nurses begin strike over poor support
Patients in a Nigerian hospital lay in their beds in pain, unaided, as nurses began a week-long strike on July 30 over what they say is a lack of support for the healthcare sector from the government.
With empty work stations and no nurses to attend to them, these patient aired their frustrations.
The National Association of Nigeria Nurses and Midwives (NANNM) at a congress this morning said the strike will last for a week and would continue if the government ignores their labor action. The union had given the Nigerian government a 15-day ultimatum before embarking on strike.
