The removal of government subsidies for eggs and chicken has not disrupted supply or triggered price hikes, says Deputy Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Minister Datuk Fuziah Salleh.
Responding to Dr Taufiq Johari (PH–Sungai Petani) in Parliament on Wednesday (Aug 6), Fuziah said the Aug 1 removal of the egg subsidy has shown positive results so far.
She added that the ministry has the authority under laws such as the Price Control and Anti-Profiteering Act, Supply Control Act, and Competition Act to regulate supply and pricing across the entire supply chain.
