Lauren shared this wild moment from the Greasy Pole contest where balance meets bacon fat and gravity wins more often than not.
''The 'Greasy Pole' in Gloucester, Massachusetts, is a 45-foot telephone pole, heavily greased with various substances, that extends horizontally out over the harbor,'' she told WooGlobe.
''During St. Peter's Fiesta, contestants try to run across the pole to grab a flag at the end.''
It sounds simple, but it is not when the pole’s slicked with a mystery mix. ''The pole is covered in grease, often a mixture of bacon fat, Crisco, fish guts, and other slippery substances,'' Lauren added.
''Contestants have to be Italians and born in Gloucester.''
