Investing In Our Health To Grow Our Wealth

There is near universal agreement with the statement, “Health is wealth.” However, there is a parallel, less acknowledged fact: To neglect the former is to squander the latter. Recognition of this reality is critical to the economic advancement of Black Americans. Disproportionately prevalent disease and premature death costs Black people billions of dollars in lost earning power and wealth creation potential. It is impossible to close the racial wealth gap without addressing challenges to both the health span and life span of Black people. During this, our third Virtual Town Hall session for 2025, we bring together top doctors and champions of health equity to discuss what it will take to minimize the biggest threats to the health and longevity in Black communities, including heart disease, diabetes, and cognitive illnesses such as Alzheimer’s.
