Pinnacle - Assasin 1974 UK,Hard Rock, Psychedelic Rock, Prog Rock
Rare privately-pressed album by a Liverpool heavy rock band.
The spelling of the title is theirs.
Musically, this is a sonic assault with pounding drums and bass and frenzied keyboards.
Powerful stuff indeed.
A sort of prototype heavy metal album that was originally only available as a demo.
Clearly of interest to heavy rock/metal fans. This very rare only Pinnacle album has always pleased my ears. Their style is a very nice mix of hard rock and space rock and their sound has lots of similarities with Hawkwind which many people have already mentioned. However their style might be a little bit heavier than Hawkwind's but in case you enjoy Hawkwind's music I'm pretty sure you'll dig Pinnacle's Assassin as well.
Although the album is very consistent and balanced I can still name my personal favourite song. It's the A-side closer "Astral Traveller" which kicks ass big time. But the rest of the material is strong as well and I can fairly say that I enjoy all of these eight songs very much. The singer might annoy some people but I find his rather odd performance to be very entertaining. His akward singing really fits into this music.
There's nothing major to complain about. Assassin is a very solid record and worth giving a try if you like these genres and especially if you like Hawkwind and other similar sounding music.
