Hurricane Erick struck Mexico’s Pacific coast as a fierce Category 3 storm, tearing through Oaxaca with powerful winds and flooding. Streets in Puerto Escondido were submerged, boats destroyed, and power lines knocked out. Yet, in a surprising twist, the storm quickly weakened to a Category 1 after landfall. Despite massive damage, no deaths or injuries were reported. Emergency crews and locals are now focused on recovery, while alerts remain for flooding and mudslides.
