A turtle’s brush with danger turned into a double ocean rescue when a baby octopus was also saved from plastic waste.
Anthony Brown, 45, a UK-born nature photographer and humpback whale swimming guide now based in Australia, shot this in Niue.
Anthony explained how he spotted the turtle trying to eat a discarded plastic bottle floating among jellyfish.
He quickly removed the bottle to stop the turtle from swallowing it only to discover a tiny octopus crawling out of the container.
Anthony said: “It was pretty bad seeing the turtle trying to eat the plastic.
“There were so many jellyfish floating along the same current line, I couldn’t believe it chose the container instead.
"We’ll always stop to get plastic out of the ocean, and luckily this time we saved two creatures at once.”
