WeRide launched 24/7 commercial operations of its mass-produced Robotaxi GXR in Guangzhou’s Huangpu District, according to Benzinga. The move marks its first driverless ride-hailing service across a city’s core urban area. Riders can now book fully autonomous trips through the WeRide Go app. The milestone comes just 11 months after the GXR’s debut, with the company completing testing, regulatory approval, and transition to full driverless operation. WeRide, which launched its first monetized Robotaxi service in 2019, has expanded coverage across Guangzhou’s key landmarks and transport hubs. WeRide shares have fallen 37% year-to-date, underscoring challenges facing the autonomous driving sector. The company is still investing in growth, including WePilot AiDrive, an ADAS platform built with Bosch.
