Airbus has presented exclusive images of the installation of the eXtra Performance Wing, a groundbreaking wing fitted on a Cessna Citation VII business jet. The project, part of the Airbus UpNext programme, seeks to test new aerodynamic efficiency technologies, including folding wingtips, intelligent sensors, and active control systems.

👉 The experimental wing has a span of 20 metres and will serve as the foundation for future narrow-body aircraft, which could eventually reach up to 50 metres in wingspan.
👉 The maiden flight is planned for 2026, with the test campaign continuing through the end of that year.

According to Airbus, the aim is not only to demonstrate aerodynamic efficiency but also to validate technologies such as morphing ailerons and retractable spoilers.
