Tropical Cyclone Tapah has triggered a T8 storm signal in Hong Kong, forcing school closures, threatening public transport, and bringing fierce thunderstorms and dangerous sea conditions. The typhoon is expected to pass just 200 km southwest of the city by sunrise Monday, before making landfall in western Guangdong. With more showers and extreme heat forecast for the week, the threat isn’t over. Climate experts warn stronger storms like this are becoming more common due to warming oceans.
