Meerut (Uttar Pradesh) – A Home Guard posted on Dial-112 duty allegedly set fire to a liquor shop in Daurala after being denied alcohol on credit. The incident took place late Saturday night and has been captured on CCTV.
The footage shows a man in khaki trousers, a black vest, and a towel around his head, walking barefoot near the shop. He is seen pouring petrol from a bottle outside the premises, striking a match, and igniting the fire before fleeing on his bike. A passerby on a bicycle is also visible in the clip.
Police said the accused, identified as Kapil, first approached the shop requesting alcohol on credit. When refused, he left but returned later to torch the outlet. Locals quickly responded to reports of the blaze and brought the fire under control.
A case has been registered on the salesman’s complaint. Kapil has been taken into custody and, during interrogation, admitted frustration over being refused alcohol.
