Leyte mayor sets conditions for resignation in feud with lawmaker
Matag-ob Mayor Bernardino Tacoy says he is ready to resign from his post, provided that Leyte 4th District Rep. Richard Gomez fulfills his conditions for the municipality. Tensions have risen between Tacoy and Gomez after the mayor questioned the implementation of a P96-million flood control project in his town, a portion of which collapsed during heavy rains. The project, undertaken by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Fourth Engineering District in Leyte, was constructed in Barangay Riverside to safeguard flood-prone communities.
