A heavy goods vehicle driver who collided with a car on the M1 motorway near Luton Airport has been sentenced.
Mark McNeil, 52, from Hertfordshire, was driving a heavy goods vehicle on the southbound carriageway of the M1 shortly before 5.40am on 3 December 2023. He failed to see a stopped Toyota Prius in lane one, which was marked as closed and in use as a hard shoulder at the time, and collided with it.
The impact left the then 50-year-old driver of the car with life-long serious injuries.
McNeil appeared in Luton Crown Court and was handed 28 months' imprisonment and a three year driving ban.
