BAD TIMING - The legal team for UAB (University Of Alabama Birmingham) attempted to use the busy local back to school week (3rd week of August) to sneak in a request for dismissal in a case where their clients are accused of taking the organs of autopsy subjects entrusted to them who were incarcerated in Alabama prisons. A Jefferson County Circuit Judge denied UAB’s motion to dismiss, stating the ruling would likely be appealed to the Alabama Supreme Court.
Attorney Lauren Faraino wrote in a court filing:
“We are here today because (UAB) violated the sacred trust placed in them to perform a solemn service,” “They robbed bodies entrusted to them of organs that were not theirs to take, disregarding the rights and dignity of the deceased and their grieving, vulnerable loved ones.” “This is nothing short of grave robbery, dressed in the guise of medical authority, and it strikes at the heart of public trust in our institutions.”
The family of Matthew Harrell mentioned after several (unsuccessful? As a patient and customer I also have experienced problems obtaining medical records from several Birmingham area medical practices affiliated with UAB (SEE MY OTHER VIDEOS)) attempts to get the autopsy report from UAB, according to the family’s lawsuit, they finally got a copy from the Talladega County Coroner’s Office.
This is one of several such cases ongoing in Alabama courts. Earlier in 2025 another judge ordered that a case charging that UAB (University Of Alabama Birmingham) and The Alabama Department of Corrections worked together to wrongfully take the organs of deceased prison inmates has been given the green light to move forward. The judge cited there is "more than mere circumstantial evidence of conspiracy in the complaints".
I also go into the details of my on experience dealing with this hospital:
More on my attempt to call (University Of Tennessee honors graduate) Neuroradiology specialist Dr. Michael Brant Ruff MD (Vulcan Imaging): I'm a patient attempting to have a misdiagnosed MRI reread (Broken Skull). The truth of my issue is I had broken the underside of my skull, over about a year the wound became infected and infested with some type of parasite. I received a $600 bill from (Ascension) St. Vincent's Ambulatory Healthcare Network LLC in 2019 for this scan, I was told no injuries appeared here. Subsequent to this, between 2018-2019 I had several X-Rays and CT scans through Saint Vincent's East Hospital Birmingham AL., in which I was told no injury appeared. When I obtained my medical records of these scans, however, broken bone appears clearly in the underside of my skull in the exact area where I had (and still have) pain. How 4 different radiologists working for St. Vincent's could have missed this injury is concerning.
