The redevelopment of Kampung Sungai Baru was initiated by the residents themselves and not forced by any external party, says the Kampung Sungai Baru Property Owners’ Welfare Association.
Its chairman, Sanita Yunus, said claims on social media suggesting otherwise were misleading and had fuelled unnecessary provocation.
She explained that the main reasons behind the decision were the dilapidated condition of the houses and the increasingly short land leases.
