Starbucks opened a nearly 10,000-square-foot flagship store at Madrid’s Santiago Bernabéu Stadium, according to Benzinga. The Madrid flagship incorporates design elements inspired by Starbucks’ original Seattle store and Madrid’s San Miguel Market. It features a retail space and concierge barista station on the ground floor, with a Reserve Bar, tasting lounges, and stadium views upstairs. Starbucks’ international performance in the third quarter was flat, as a 1% rise in transactions was offset by a 1% drop in average ticket. International net revenues grew 9% to $2.0 billion. Over 65 employees joined Starbucks Iberia to operate the store, expanding the company’s Spanish footprint to more than 220 locations across 48 cities. Shares have fallen more than 15% in the past year.
