The first few years of school are a crucial time for children, but new data shows one in four doesn't have the language skills needed to properly engage in the classroom. Early intervention has been identified by the federal government as a key priority under its new Thriving Kids program for participants who will be diverted off the NDIS. But speech pathologists are calling for a new national approach to language therapy for all children to ensure kids and their parents get the support they need.
