Pune: The controversy around former IAS trainee Puja Khedkar has taken another turn. Pune City Police have booked her mother, Manorama Khedkar, for allegedly obstructing Navi Mumbai police during the rescue of a truck driver in a kidnapping case.
Police said a mixer truck had collided with a car near Airoli, Navi Mumbai. After the crash, two men allegedly abducted the truck driver’s helper, Prahlad Kumar, and took him to Puja Khedkar’s Pune residence. When police tracked the vehicle and reached the house, Manorama allegedly blocked their entry and tried to shield the accused. She has been charged under Sections 221, 238, and 263 of the BNS and summoned for questioning.
Prahlad Kumar was later rescued safely.
This comes after Puja Khedkar was sacked from IAS in 2023, with UPSC cancelling her selection for allegedly misusing OBC and disability quotas and banning her for life from civil services exams.
