Protesters rally outside Windsor Castle ahead of Trump's state visit
Demonstrators took to the streets of Windsor on Tuesday, September 16, to protest US President Donald Trump's visit to the United Kingdom.
Trump arrived in Britain late on Tuesday for an unprecedented second state visit at which the two nations will seal investment deals, a renewal of a "special relationship" Prime Minister Keir Starmer is keen to champion.
Protesters holding signs that read 'The tyrant who came to tea' and 'Democracy DIES while Trump LIES!' could be heard chanting 'Dump Trump, out, out'.
At a reception held for Trump supporters abroad by the organization Republicans Overseas, Chairman Greg Swenson described Trump's visit as 'great news'.
Trump will be greeted by King Charles on Wednesday (September 17), for a day of pomp at Windsor Castle, a regal show of soft power that Starmer hopes will offer him protection from possible pitfalls during the trip.
