Meta unveiled its latest smart glasses, the Meta Ray-Ban Display, at its Connect 2025 conference on Wednesday, according to TechCrunch. The $799 glasses feature a built-in display on the right lens for apps, alerts, directions, and live translations, with sales starting on September 30th. The Meta Ray-Ban Display is controlled by the Neural Band, a screenless Fitbit-like wristband that interprets subtle hand gestures for app navigation. Equipped with an AI assistant, cameras, speakers, and microphones, the glasses also integrate with Meta apps like Instagram, WhatsApp, and Facebook. The Meta Ray-Ban Display is far less advanced than the Orion smart glasses, with AR lenses and eye tracking, that Meta unveiled in 2024. Meta aims to gain an edge by launching smart glasses ahead of its rivals, but Google and Apple’s future devices could surpass them through seamless OS integration.
