Arctic Sea Ice Shrinks Again – 10th Lowest Ever Recorded

2025-09-22 32 Dailymotion

Arctic sea ice has just hit its annual low — and it's one of the lowest levels ever recorded. On September 10, 2025, NASA and the National Snow and Ice Data Center reported that sea ice in the Arctic shrank to 1.78 million square miles, tying with 2008 for the 10th lowest extent on record.

While this year didn’t break records, it continues a 47-year trend of shrinking ice as global temperatures rise. In the Southern Hemisphere, Antarctic ice is nearing its seasonal peak — but levels are still below average, adding to global climate concerns.

From laser-equipped satellites to nearly five decades of data, scientists are tracking these changes closer than ever. What does this mean for our future?
