Authorities have uncovered about 100 cases of lost MyKad being misused to claim the RM100 one-off Rahmah Basic Assistance (Sara) aid, says Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail.
He explained that while the National Registration Department (NRD) immediately deactivates reported lost or stolen MyKad, a lag in synchronising with the Finance Ministry’s system had allowed some claims to slip through.
Saifuddin said the loophole has since been fixed, with both systems now closely monitored, and assured that the deactivation process will continue to prioritise protection of personal data.
