World leaders condemned ongoing violence in Gaza and called for urgent humanitarian and diplomatic action during a high-level conference at the United Nations on Monday.

The meeting brought together heads of state, European officials, and representatives from Middle Eastern countries amid escalating concerns over the humanitarian crisis.

Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez outlined two key proposals: full UN membership for Palestine and immediate measures to halt the violence.

"Spain will adopt a plan with measures to halt the genocide in Gaza," he said. "History will judge those who perpetrated this barbarity or remained silent. Let us side with rationality, with diplomacy."

Meanwhile, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen highlighted EU's financial support for the Palestinian Authority.

"Europe has been the lifeline of the Palestinian Authority, providing 1.6 billion euros. We will set up a dedicated instrument for Gaza's reconstruction and coordinate with other donors to relaunch the Palestinian economy," she added.

Middle Eastern leaders also condemned the violence as Sultan bin Saad bin Sultan Al Muraikhi, Qatari Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, said this 'threatens peace and stability across the Middle East.'

"Israel's military campaign targeted several countries, including Qatar, where an attack on Doha killed six civilians and violated international law. We hold the Israeli government fully responsible," he continued.

Furthermore, UAE's Minister of State Khalifa bin Shaheen Al Marar called for a "clear political horizon and binding roadmap for an independent Palestinian state."

The statements come at the 80th UN General Assembly, during which countries including the UK, France, Canada and Australia said they will now formally recognise the State of Palestine.

It comes amid mounting domestic and international pressure, as Israel's military campaign in Gaza intensifies.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has strongly opposed recognition of a Palestinian state. He has warned that such a move would risk Israel’s survival and 'reward terrorism.'
