Nvidia and OpenAI announced a sweeping partnership Monday to build out next-generation AI infrastructure with at least 10 gigawatts of Nvidia systems, backed by a $100 billion investment from the chipmaker. The massive project will support OpenAI’s training and deployment of new models and is expected to require dozens of new data centers, according to The Wall Street Journal. Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang described the OpenAI partnership as a “giant project” and praised OpenAI as the fastest-growing software company in history. OpenAI CEO Sam Altman said the outcomes of the planned AI “superbrain” will be remarkable and beyond current understanding. The first phase of the buildout is slated to come online in the second half of 2026 using Nvidia’s unreleased Vera Rubin platform. Shares in Nvidia climbed nearly 4% on the news, pushing its market value close to $4.5 trillion, the highest in the world.
