PH warned of extreme rains, floods due to climate change
Dr. Alfredo Mahar Lagmay, executive director of UP Resilience and Project NOAH, warns of extreme rains in the Philippines with alarming frequency and overwhelming flooding in the 21st century due to climate change. He said that the Philippines was ranked first in the World Risk Index, followed by India, Indonesia, Colombia, Mexico, Myanmar, Mozambique, China, Bangladesh and Pakistan. These 10 countries are classified as the World Risk Index for disaster. Lagmay, a renowned scientist, said that the rare and once in a lifetime extreme rainfall in the Philippines is taking place due to climate change.
