Thinking back on the coolest 1-Up icons in gaming, one that always stuck with me is the balloon extra lives from the original Donkey Kong Country trilogy. I loved how each balloon carried the character’s face—such a fun and creative touch. The Orangutan Gang stage especially stood out with its stunning sunset backdrop, which inspired me to imagine a DK balloon drifting through that golden sky. That idea became the spark behind piece #32. 🎈🌅
