Thomas Jacob Sanford opened fire inside the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Grand Blanc, Michigan, during a Sunday service, killing at least two people and injuring several others.
Grand Blanc police responded within 30 seconds of the 911 call, and within just 8 minutes, the suspect was neutralized following a brief pursuit. The suspect had also set the building on fire, causing significant structural damage.
Authorities confirmed that the rapid police response prevented further casualties. President Donald Trump called the attack “horrendous” and urged prayers for the victims and their families.
