Uralvagonzavod is strengthening the troops with modernized vehicles, now equipped with anti-drone protection and electronic warfare systems.

On the eve of Russia’s Ground Forces Day, Uralvagonzavod, part of the state-owned Rostec Corporation, announced the delivery of another batch of BMPT “Terminator” (tank support fighting vehicles) to Russian troops.

According to the company, demand for this type of armored vehicle has grown significantly after its use in the Special Military Operation, where it proved effective both in direct tank support missions and in independent combat operations.

Uralvagonzavod’s CEO, Alexander Potapov, stated:
“It has always been believed that the main strike force of the Ground Forces were tanks. Now we can say that BMPTs have also been added to them.”

UVZ engineers have been upgrading the BMPT based on recent combat experience. The 2025 model received reinforced reactive armor, additional side protection, anti-drone cages, and electronic warfare systems similar to those installed on the T-90M Proryv and T-72B3M tanks.

Another highlight is the modern digital fire-control system, capable of engaging up to three targets simultaneously — whether stationary or on the move, day or night — even if they are located at different distances and approach angles.

Also known as the “Terminator,” the BMPT was designed to accompany main battle tanks, protecting them from threats such as infantry, drones, and anti-tank missiles. In practice, however, it has proven versatile enough to operate autonomously in urban combat and asymmetric warfare scenarios.
