White House warns of 'tragic' consequences if Hamas does not accept Gaza plan
The White House warns on Oct. 3, 2025 of 'tragic consequences' if Hamas does not accept his proposal for Gaza. The plan specifies an immediate ceasefire, an exchange of all hostages held by Hamas for Palestinian prisoners held by Israel, a staged Israeli withdrawal from Gaza, the disarmament of Hamas and the introduction of a transitional government led by an international body. US President Donald Trump gave Hamas until 6 p.m./2200 GMT on Oct. 5, 2025 to reach an agreement on his plan for Gaza's future, calling it a last chance for the Palestinian militant group. Trump first presented his plan to leaders and officials from Egypt, Indonesia, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, Pakistan, Qatar and the United Arab Emirates, on the sidelines of last week's UN General Assembly. Hamas was not involved in the negotiations.
